Computer Engineering is the heartbeat of the modern world, serving as the bridge between physical reality and digital intelligence. From autonomous vehicles and smart factories to secure banking and quantum-ready infrastructures, computer engineers design the systems that process, store, and protect the data driving our global society.
The Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Engineering is taught entirely in English and is designed to train professionals capable of mastering the dual nature of modern technology: hardware and software. Our mission is to provide a rigorous scientific foundation combined with practical expertise in software engineering, computer architecture, networking, and industrial automation. Students do not just learn how to code; they learn how computers work from the transistor level up to complex cloud environments and artificial intelligence algorithms.
The program is aimed at motivated and talented students with a strong interest in mathematics and logic, possessing a high school diploma (or equivalent international qualification). It is specifically designed for those who aspire to become the architects of future technologies, offering a curriculum that balances classical engineering disciplines with cutting-edge topics like Cybersecurity, Internet of Things (IoT), and Quantum Computing circuits.
The University of Cassino and Southern Lazio (UNICAS) is a public research University located in Cassino, Italy, which comprises five Departments in the fields of Economics, Law, Engineering, Humanities, and Sport Sciences. The MSc in Telecommunications Engineering is offered by the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering (DIEI), starting from the academic year 2014-2015.
In the Evaluation of Research Quality (VQR) for the period 2004–2010 carried out by ANVUR (Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes), DIEI ranked 24th out of 137 Italian research institutes operating in the same field (area 09, according to ANVUR).
In January 2018 the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering "Maurizio Scarano" (DIEI) was included in the list of the Departments of Excellence in Italy
